If you are considering getting a cosmetic tattoo you may be wondering... "What if the trends change again and I want a different look?"
"How will my brows look over time?"
"What if I don't have a colour boost?"
So let's break it down shall we? WHAT IF THE TRENDS CHANGE AND I WANT A DIFFERENT LOOK? I can't speak for everyone but I will speak for myself. When clients come to me for a permanent tattoo on their face I do not follow current trends.
Every single pair of brows that I create are based on my clients bone structure and enhancing their natural features. I like to give my clients the most natural brows so that they are timeless and beautiful no matter what trends come and go.
HOW WILL MY BROWS LOOK OVER TIME?
The pigment that is used in permanent makeup contains smaller molecules and is more diluted than the ink used in body tattoos. However it is still a tattoo and parts of the pigment will remain in the skin permanently.
When the tattoo is first done the colour will be fresh and the most vibrant. Over time the pigment will naturally oxidise and the colour will lighten and fade gradually.
If your brows are darker the colour will take longer to fade, if your brows are light and the colour is blonde or taupe it will fade quicker.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A COLOUR BOOST?
With body tattooing the ink is implanted into the lower dermal layer of skin so very often doesn't require top ups, although body tattoos can and do fade. With a cosmetic tattoo the pigment is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin. (About the depth of a piece of paper) The reason why is because the deeper into the skin the pigment is implanted the cooler it heals. When implanted correctly the healed colour is stunning.
When having a cosmetic tattoo it's important that you are committed to keeping the tattoo fresh with colour boosts. And also with taking care of your fresh tattoo for the longevity of the results.
If you decide not to have a colour boost the brows would eventually fade and may become patchy.
When in doubt, it is important to remember that a natural look is always going to be the best choice. Lighter pigments do fade more quickly, so if you are concerned about regretting having an initial cosmetic tattoo, the pigment will fade quicker with a lighter color choice.
