Pre Treatment Advice
PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE 100% COMMITTED TO THE FOLLOWING ADVICE BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR CONSULTATION.
If you have any medical conditions/allergies/disorders/disabilities, or take any medications at all please disclose these when you enquire.
If you are under 18 years of age its is illegal for you to have a cosmetic tattoo. (Proof of ID is required).
You must be off Acne medication/ blood thinning meds for at least 1 year.
You are pregnant/breastfeeding.
You have a breakout of eczema/dermatitis/shingles/psoriasis/rashes in the eyebrow area.
You have had a seizure in the last two years.
You have Hepatitis C, HIV, or Aids.
You are taking steroid medications/immunosuppressants.
If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy/radiation you would need to allow six weeks after your treatment has stopped, and obtain consent from your Oncologist.
You are prone to keloid scarring or post-inflammatory hypo-pigmentation.
Those with very oily skin are unfortunately not good candidates for Microblading.
If you are taking steroids which are an autoimmune suppressant you are at a very high risk of infection and it would not be safe to carry out a procedure. You would need to wait 6 months after the course of treatment.
For some medical conditions GP approval will be required, this is just to ensure whether it would be advisable to go ahead. Here are some examples of conditions that would require GP Referral:
Abnormal blood pressure
Heart condition - (if you take blood thinners then you Ould not be a suitable candidate.)
There are many other conditions/disorders that would require GP referral PLEASE DISCLOSE ANY medications / conditions/ disorders before booking.
IF YOU FAIL TO DISCLOSE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS, YOUR TREATMENT WILL BE REFUSED AND THE BOOKING FEE WILL BE RETAINED FOR THE TIME WASTED. I DON'T MEAN TO SOUND HARSH BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND I AM A SMALL BUSINESS AND I TAKE HEALTH AND SAFETY EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY.
Previous cosmetic tattoo
If you have had a previous tattoo on your brows, please let me know before booking. Please include when you had them done, how many time you've had them done, and clear pictures of your brows. They would need to be very faded for a cover up to be carried out. Please also note I do not offer top ups for other artists work, it would be a case of starting from scratch. (No pun intended)
Pre Treatment Advice
24 hours before
Avoid caffeine/alcohol the day before and after your treatment. on the day of your appointment avoid any activity that will cause you to sweat.
If you have caffeine you will bleed and you won't get very good retention. Caffeine thins the blood and puts you at risk of damaging the skin too. So please avoid.
72 hours prior
Do not take aspirin, fish oil, coumadin, vitamin E or ibuprofen before unless medically advised. Paracetamol is fine.
You must have finished taking acne medication (Accutane) for at least one year – no exceptions. These types of medications make the skin extremely brittle.
If you regularly use sunbeds this treatment is probably not suitable for you, the pigment will fade very quickly. Do not have tan/sunburn on your face on the day of your treatment.
NO SUN 30 days prior and post-treatment (re-touch also). If you arrive at your appointment with a heavy tan/sunburn on. your face you will be required to reschedule (A charge will apply).
Avoid exfoliating/anti ageing products around the brows for 4 weeks prior to the treatment. Botox or other fillers (Must be carried out 6 weeks before the first treatment or 6 weeks after the top up).
If you get your brows waxed or tinted, get this done at least 1 week before the procedure, the cost of this is £15 *Patch test required for tinting*. It is also recommended to wait at least 30 days to have them tinted/waxed after the procedure.
Sometimes a client’s skin undertones/medication/lifestyle, aftercare may have unexpected effects on the pigment’s colour, and I may need to add colour to adjust. These kind of corrections are normal with any Microblading artist and an essential part of the process, as everyone’s skin is different and receives pigment differently.
After the treatment dab the brows with clean tissue, every 5 minutes until the lymph has dried up. Before you go to bed gently cleanse your brows with a little baby shampoo (ONLY no other cleansers) remove with damp cotton pads (Not cotton wool/balls) and pat dry with clean tissue. Once dry apply a small amount of the balm provided with a cotton bud – brows should not look shiny. Repeat morning and night for 3 days, or until flaking begins. OTHER THAN WHEN CLEANSING YOUR BROWS AS INSTRUCTED DO NOT GET THEM WET!!!
For the first 14 days
Do NOT apply any creams or makeup on your brows, NO sunbathing, NO sunbeds, NO saunas/steam rooms, NO getting wet, LIMIT a shower to 10 mins MAX and do not have the water too warm, ABSOLUTELY NO exercise, NO makeup or cosmetics should be applied to the area. Keep your hair away from your brows to prevent infection.
No swimming until the area has completely healed. It is recommended to apply some vaseline to your brows when swimming after healing to protect the colour and stop chlorine/salt water from entering.
Dermal fillers and Botox should be carried out at least 6 weeks AFTER a Microblading procedure and not prior, please be aware that these procedures can alter the look of your brows. Laser or pulsed light hair removal or skin rejuvenation treatments can cause colour change – it is important to advise the therapist that you have had a Microblading procedure as this cannot be rectified with another Microblading procedure.
No Eyebrow waxing or tinting for 30 days after the treatment.
Once fully healed
Use a good quality sunscreen, as sun exposure & sunbeds will fade the pigment. Avoid harsh exfoliating or harsh anti-ageing cosmetics. If you are planning a chemical peel or MRI scan please inform your GP of your permanent cosmetics. Avoid wearing foundation over your brows or they will look patchy. Please inform the national blood service if you donate blood, as you may not be eligible or may need to wait 4-12 months.
As a general rule, the client should expect to book a maintenance appointment approximately every 12-18 months. Some factors will effect fading more quickly. These factors include, but are not limited to the following; Not taking proper care of procedure area before and/or after treatments. Oily skin, UV exposure – sunbeds and sunbathing. Using Anti ageing creams, or any other products that contain AHA’s, Glycolic or Vitamin A in the brow area. Certain skin treatments such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Certain skin conditions and or excessively dry/oily skin types. Specific medications. Excessive use of alcohol. Swimming in chlorinated pools without protecting brows with Vaseline). Not applying a good quality Sunscreen to the brows. Low iron. Hormones.
